DISCOVERY RANCH FOR BOYS
We provide placement for boys in a therapeutic setting for boys. Discovery Ranch for boys is a residential program for boys ages 13 to 18 years of age. The program is highly staffed to work with clinicians and Educational Consultants. Discovery Ranch is known for its strong clinical support for helping adolescent boys. Every boy that comes to Oxbow goes through an evaluation period (approximately 90 days), to see if they need Oxbow's level of care. Boys ages 10-13 go to the Junior House, and boys ages 14-17 go to the Evaluation House which explores the family dynamics before discharge.

WILDERNESS AND ADVENTURE THERAPY PROGRAMS
WILDERNESS THERAPY PROGRAMS
Many times, we will refer a student to a wilderness program before attending school. These programs offer 52 -100 days in the wilderness with clinical and education staff. The ages do vary from children to young adults and the setting might vary in parts of the country or a different state. We work with the staff at these programs, which are clinically more intensive treatments. Many programs are designed to teach life skills and provide therapeutic support. We work with the entire family in this setting. Wilderness programs have summer and year-round programs designed to help students with leadership and/or social skills. These programs rotate with varied ages and genders to allow students to move from one intervention experience to another. Some programs now have family camp programs, which are added to help the dynamic of the family therapy and others address addictive behavior or challenges. We also work with the field staff keeping parents informed of the child's location, physical health and medical concerns in the program, including working in many instances in family therapy in an outdoor experience.

This is a unique nontraditional emergence program. The program might not be a therapeutic program yet it provides support for students dealing with mental health issues. It's probably a combination of the GAP year or supp[orive program. The ages for this program are 16-17 adolescent girls. There is a voluntary program, not a therapeutic program. Travel to New Zealand and Costa Rica is included in this program. This is not a recovery, detox, or therapeutic program.

ALCOHOL AND DRUG TREATMENT PROGRAMS:
Typically adolescents in an alcohol or drug treatment program are separate from adults. Adolescents are not placed by our consultant in adult programs. It simply does not work well and our preference is to find an adolescent program to treat other problems with the child. A residential program is usually our choice. Those with a psychiatric and chemical dependency diagnosis would be thoughtfully placed in the right setting, depending on their age and use of the substances. We find most adolescents are experimenting with drugs rather than having a full-blown addiction.

Foundation House is a fully licensed intensive outpatient program we are familiar with for adolescents and young adults. Our program incorporates a fully licensed Intensive Outpatient Program. Clients receive a minimum of nine clinical hours each week through various groups, weekly individual therapy, and 12 Step studies.

Costa Rica Recovery is a substance abuse and recovery program in Costa Rica. The program is taught by a clinical team and local support. The countries represented are over 65 different countries. Housing is provided and they also provide support to veterans is covered in the program. There is a step-down program included with a level system and buddy student. Costa Rica has a very early rise time in the program. There are some restrictions on technology in the programs. Age groups would be young adults to adults.

The program is clinically operated and owned. 45-90 day program and provides insurance and private pay. There is no insurance-based payment. Staffing 170 for 56 boys.
RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS FOR YOUNG WOMEN:
Some students may need a residential program. This type of program provides supervision and support and may be a closed or locked unit. There are exceptions, but our placement does not include a state-funded or an insurance-based program in this type of placement setting. We will explain all of the details of this placement and the differences and similarities to therapeutic boarding schools. Many of our residential programs include treatment for eating disorders or sexual abuse issues, as well as developmental disabilities or those who have physical limitations due to a disability. We work with parents to help them understand the services available in their community as an advocate, helping with IEPs and 504 plans.

Options Transitions is a residential program located outside Carbondale, Illinois. The program offers support for young adults needing direction and support in the community. The program is not a therapeutic program but more of a social integration program providing direction for young men. The core of the program is to promote independent living skills with some educational pieces. Many students in the program need assistance with social interactions and learning life skills, This might be learning how to find a job, working in the community, and facing challenges in being around other adolescents your young men. INTENSIVE TREATMENT FOR YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN:
Some students may need placement in an intensive treatment program. These might be step-down or step-up programs for these families. Each program depends on the needs of the student. These might include work simplification or supervised programming designed for independence and life skills to help your child cope with an emotional challenge. This might be particularly true for a student who needs supervision and medication management. This may also apply to a student with a serious need for medication monitoring, due to safety issues.
We provide placement in intensive treatment programs for adolescents through adults. Our consultant is able to transition those individuals from a detox program to a program assessing to more intensive treatment needs.
Youth Adult Transition Programs
Youth Adult Transition Programs is a therapeutic environment for young adults struggling with attachment distress and relational trauma that creates emotional and relationship challenges. COLLEGE AND INTERNATIONAL PLACEMENT
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT PLACEMENT
We provide help to students who are interested in studying abroad. This is a very complex area from studying in the early grades to college. We generally work with families looking at boarding schools. Although we find after attending a boarding school students are proficient in English after completing secondary school or grade 12. They are more prepared to enter college and need our help at the secondary level. We help parents and families make these decisions before they even consider a college or university. Most students are required to take the TOEFL before applying for college but in boarding school, they have classes to improve their proficiency making admission much easier. Therefore, we are more helpful to parents in the early grades and this is also helpful to schools as well. Students attending Canadian boarding schools are often sent to boarding schools
College internship Program
The College Internship Program is a college placement and internship program for students entering or leaving college. The program provides real-life experiences including travel and Gap year experiences.
COLLEGE PLACEMENT AND DIRECTION
We provide help to students looking at college placement. Many times we will send a student to a boarding school or therapeutic program with the purpose of directing them toward college. There are admission counselors and academic faculty in boarding and therapeutic school. These programs are designed to help students in this direction or provide guidance toward attending college, College placement itself can be pretty competitive, and sometimes a student with a challenging academic path needs direction. Other times, in the case of traditional boarding schools the curriculum, is very challenging and requires specific knowledge in certain subject areas. Our consultant will provide this direction and support no matter where the student needs help and we will walk the parents through the entire process. This is what we do best as Educational Consultants or Therapeutic Consultants. We help families in all areas of placement including college placement.

Pathfinder is a Gap year international program located in Costa Rica. We met with the program on a Zoom call this week in June to discuss the program. This is a very culturally immersed program for adolescents ages 17 or up to have the opportunity to learn the culture and engage in learning before college.
Pathfinder is what the term suggests as a path to learning and exploring while earning school credit. The program has some clinical pieces with support staff involved in some therapy sessions.

PLACEMENT FOR STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
STUDENTS WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS
We help parents and their children with a variety of ages 3-6 and 14-21 ranging from Pre k through college. We work with both disabilities and hearing impairments. The Perkins School for the blind is the oldest international school in the world and our principal school for students with blindness. We also work with Gallaudet University, the largest college for hearing impairment.
Perkins School is the world's largest school for students with a visual impairment and we understand both disabilities. As low-vision students have been through training with this disability and are often mainstreamed in public schools not receiving any services or support in the areas of technology and mobility. They are often sent to state-funded schools.
Parents with limited information and resources for their children are often referred by a pediatrician As a consultant with a visual disability, my knowledge understanding, the ability can direct families to the very best schools in the country. We will discuss academic needs and challenges with your child.
STUDENTS WITH TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT HEARING LOSS
We work exclusively with students suffering from temporary or permanent hearing loss. There are specific colleges that help with these students and our consultant will work with your family as the student transitions from high school to college. In the early stage of hearing loss, a student might need to be a private school or program. An estimated 1 in 5 individuals suffer from hearing loss and this can happen from an accident or at birth. Our consultant has worked in hospitals throughout the county and knows the correct placement for your child or young adult. A hearing specialist often performs a diagnostic hearing test and this is critical to determining hearing loss. Hearing loss might be permanent but in this case, a student needs to communicate with sign language or be familiar with other forms of technology.
LEA CONSULTATION:
We work directly with the local school district or local education agency to address your student's IEP 504 or manifestation plan with special needs students. In most cases, we will attend an IEP meeting and contact the district or schools who are responsible for the services of the special needs child. We also advocate on behalf of the family, and discuss with the behavioral health agency their responsibility for the transition process to help the family. While there can be no guarantee in many cases, parents must understand this is a long process. The time frame is sometimes beyond the time of the placement. This includes our follow-up and the transition piece after leaving the program. In some cases, we seek legal advice for the families we serve to address their needs.

The Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind, located in Staunton, Virginia, United States, is an institution for educating deaf and blind children, first established in 1839 by an act of the Virginia General Assembly. The school accepts children aged between 2 and 22 and provides residential treatment for children through adults.
Perkins School for the Blind
Perkins School for the blind is a year around internationally known residential program for children, adolescents, and young adults to receive specialized care for indidualtls with partial or full blindness. ARIZONA SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF AND BLIND
Arizona School for the Deaf is a publically-funded school supported by the Department of Education which provides specialized education for the deaf including sign language, computer technology, and grad-level assistance. the services might include transportation and help with specialized learning, including addressing IEP or 504 plans. Students with visual neglect are also seen at this campus.
Texas School for the Deaf
Texas School for the Deaf is a state-funded program for students suffering from hearing loss o deafness. Hearing loss affects many children nationwide, but this is for the State of Texas residents.
Maryland School for the Deaf
This is s specialized school for the deaf and hard of hearing located in Maryland. We work with families in placement in this school nationwide. They have a range of ages and grade levels at this school; individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing are taught sign language at this school including academic peripartum.

Cardinal Cushing School
This is a nonprofit program that provides support for students with multiple disabilities. Michelle Markowitz is a persona l friend and we have visited the school over the years. This is a long-term residential treatment program for individuals with mental retardation with other mental disorders or conditions. This school provides 24-hour services for residents and academic support.
Michigan School for the Blind and Deaf
This is a state-run school for the blind and deaf, its location is Michigan outside Lansing. This is a state funded school for individuals with visual idealities or deafness.
Day School Placement
Day School Placement
Day Schools Placement in boarding schools offers families the option for a child to attend a traditional boarding school during the day and not be a full-time resident on campus. Day placement involved finding a school and the EC will make a recommendation to the parents. Day school is not boarding but many students who are younger attend day schools and become boarding students as they become older. Grade level is generally with lower grades some as low as kindergarten.

UNDERSTANDING AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER:
We provide help to parents and children suffering from a developmental disorder called Autism Spectrum Disorder. As a specialist in working with these students, we provide private placement opportunities. Many children adolescents or young adults need help with social skills, social curing, and clear communication skills. There are many children who have challenges from the disorder. PARENT COACHING
We offer individualized family counseling and parent coaching. These services require assessment and meeting with parents either virtually or in person. However, since the COVID-19 pandemic, we are meeting through Zoom or Google Meets to discuss your needs. All aspects of your child's education from grade level to improving behavior will be discussed at our meeting including those challenges as a parent. Our consultant will meet with your family and possibly another parent coach to discuss all of the options you have. A continuation of this might happen in the program.
We provide parent coaching for parents to address the needs of your child. This can be done remotely through zoom or conference calling or in person. Our parent coach is provided by the Parent Coaching Institute PCI but we also work with families individually.
ACTUAL TREATMENT FOR GENDER DYSPHORIA
We provide help for parents who have transgender or dealing with gender dysphoria. Gender dysphoria is where a child is born a male but identifies with being male or female. The student might have problems in each or both areas and its very complicated to the child and they need help both in mental health and development.

We offer translation services for our clients which includes Zoom conferencing and video chat. This is a prepaid service billed to us and we collect the fees from our clients. We will pre-schedule the video call between the hours of 8 EST and 8 EST. We generally schedule you using our appointment book.
ADHD AND ADD WHAT PARENTS NEED TO KNOW
ADD and ADHD are classified among learning disabilities. Parents with children need to know the difference and how it is addressed in an educational setting. We provide direction for parents of children and adolescents with the condition as well as young adults. Placement in a school or program might be a recommendation made by our Educational Consultant. Most consultants will require testing as well for this learning difference and when appropriate placement in a school or program placement. Many students need simple direction and support and help with diet as well as proper rest and sometimes medication. We would refer you to a pediatrician for evaluation of the condition and testing by a educator.
FINANCIAL AID
COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID
We direct families to scholarship and tax-credit resources. We also encourage our families to complete the FAFSA for college lending and discuss loan programs to help families with the affordability of going to an independent school or a private college. We also work with struggling teens in crisis. Most of our students apply for some financial aid in a boarding school. However, financial support in a therapeutic school is provided by the parent. While we cannot guarantee scholarships or financial aid, we do help families in this aspect of placement, usually addressing this with the school. We do not offer grants to students. This is an entirely different process and applies to college admission. This does not apply to independent schools or therapeutic schools or programs. We discuss many of our resources in the meeting. We must meet with you to address these various areas. Many times, in the case of special needs students, funding with a school district may apply to attend a program. Even children who come from adopted families can obtain subsidy support.
Federal Student Aid Application
FAFSA the Free Application for Student Aid or FAFSA is an online application for all student aid and loans. These programs include the Stanford Loan and the Pell Grant which provides grants for college students. Each student applying for college must apply online with verifies the income or support by the parent o parents. The Pell Grant is based on this as well as the Stanford Loan Program matches the grants.

Benchmark Transition is a young adult program for young men 18-30. The program is excellent and has a diversity of staff helping young men transition into adult living from addressing substance abuse issues through those with learning challenges and needing direction and support. There are three levels to the program which start with living in a supervised setting to progressively move to independent living. They teach cooking skills, seek employment and budget, education, and live independently. The program carefully monitors the young adults and they have a small farm with farm animals and an equine program and horsemanship.
